About the PNG Drop Shadow

Drop shadows lift cutout images off the page — the difference between flat clipart and professional product mockups. The canvas renders a true Gaussian shadow behind your subject with control over blur, offset direction and opacity, expanding the canvas so nothing clips.

How it works

The tool derives a shadow from your PNG's alpha silhouette, offsets it by your X/Y values, blurs it by your radius, tints it your color at your opacity, and composites it behind the original on a larger transparent canvas. It's the CSS box-shadow you can actually ship inside an image file.

How to use it

Drop one transparent PNG, tune blur, offsets, color and opacity while previewing, then download the result — a bigger canvas with your cutout casting a clean shadow.

Supported formats & limitations

Accepts .png and .webp up to 30MB; single-image runs; output is PNG with alpha (the shadow itself is semi-transparent). Fully opaque sources produce a rectangular shadow — transparency is what defines the silhouette.

Common use cases

Making product cutouts float above catalog backgrounds, adding depth to sticker and meme exports, preparing e-commerce hero assets, and building design elements that need baked-in shadows for non-CSS destinations.

Frequently asked questions

Where are my images processed?

Everything runs locally in your browser via the Canvas API. Your picture never leaves your machine — there is no upload step at all, so processing is as private as working in an offline editor.

What kind of image files work with this tool?

PNG or WEBP inputs are supported, up to 30 MB per file. For exotic formats, convert them first with one of the converter tools, then come back.

What are the size and batch limits?

This tool handles one image at a time (up to 30 MB). For batch work, use one of the multi-file tools instead — the per-image result is the same.

Can I fine-tune the result before downloading?

Yes — settings include Shadow blur, Horizontal offset and 3 more controls. Each run regenerates the preview, so you can compare options before downloading.
