About the Remove White Background

Product shots and logos on white need transparent versions for design work. The smart flood-fill removes only white areas connected to the image border — so the white of an eye or a logo's inner details stay intact. Adjustable tolerance handles off-white studio backgrounds.

How it works

A flood-fill grows inward from the image borders, erasing white and near-white pixels only while they remain connected to the edge — so a white shirt inside your subject survives even though the white backdrop vanishes. Tolerance handles slightly off-white studio backgrounds.

How to use it

Drop one image, adjust tolerance until the background clears in the checkerboard preview, keep connected-only mode on to protect interior whites, then download the transparent PNG.

Supported formats & limitations

Accepts .jpg, .png and .webp up to 30MB; single-image runs; output is PNG with alpha. JPEG noise around edges may leave faint halos — raise tolerance slightly. Shadows under subjects count as background and will clear too.

Common use cases

Prepping product photos for marketplaces and catalogs, cutting logos and illustrations out of white-padded exports, cleaning screenshots for presentations, and making sticker-style cutouts for messaging apps.

Frequently asked questions

Will the inside of my logo turn transparent?

Not with Smart Edges on — it only removes background connected to the borders.

What output format?

PNG — the standard format that preserves transparency everywhere: design tools, browsers, presentations and marketplaces. Exporting as JPEG would fill the transparent areas back in with a solid color.

Does it work on photos with busy backgrounds?

It's designed for product shots, logos and graphics on white or near-white backgrounds. The flood-fill removes white areas connected to the border, so textured or cluttered backgrounds won't fully clear — for those, use the chroma-key or color-removal tool with a tolerance and feather that suit the photo.
