About the Make Transparent

Pick any color — white studio backdrops, black bars, green screens — and sweep it to transparency with adjustable tolerance and soft feathered edges. Feathering is the pro touch: it blends the cutout edge so subjects composite smoothly onto new backgrounds.

How it works

The tool keys out your chosen background color by pixel distance: you pick the exact shade, tolerance decides how similar a pixel must be to disappear, and feathering softens the cut edge so subjects don't look stencil-cut. Any color keys — white, black, green, whatever your backdrop was.

How to use it

Drop one image, sample or pick the background color, raise tolerance until the backdrop clears in the preview, add feather for smooth edges, then download the transparent PNG.

Supported formats & limitations

Accepts .jpg, .png and .webp up to 30MB; single-image sessions; output is PNG with real alpha. Gradient or textured backgrounds key imperfectly — uniform studio backdrops are the sweet spot. Feather of 1–2px suits most cutouts.

Common use cases

Extracting subjects from studio backdrops, making logo variants transparent, preparing overlay assets for video editors, creating cutouts for e-commerce listings, and building transparent sticker packs.

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded to a server when I use Make Transparent?

Everything runs locally in your browser via the Canvas API. Your picture never leaves your machine — there is no upload step at all, so processing is as private as working in an offline editor.

Which file types are supported?

JPG, PNG or WEBP files up to 30 MB each are accepted. Drop a single file in (paste and drag also work), check the preview, and export in the format shown at the download step.

How many images can I process at once?

There are no artificial limits: use it as often as you like, free. The practical cap is 30 MB per image, and outputs stay watermark-free.

Can I fine-tune the result before downloading?

The controls cover Color to make transparent, Tolerance, Edge feathering. Nothing is baked in until you press the action button, and every run gives you a fresh preview to check.
