About the Invert Colors

Color inversion flips every channel (255 − value), producing a photographic negative. Beyond the art effect, it's a practical tool: inverted screenshots improve OCR accuracy on dark UIs, and inverting helps inspect white-on-dark designs.

How it works

Every pixel's red, green and blue values are replaced by their complements (255 minus the original), producing a photographic negative. The intensity slider blends the inversion, allowing partial effects — and running the tool at 100% twice returns the exact original, which is handy for verification.

How to use it

Drop up to 10 images, set inversion strength (100% for a true negative), and process. Preview each result and download individually or zipped.

Supported formats & limitations

Accepts .jpg, .png and .webp up to 30MB each, 10 per batch; PNG transparency survives inversion (alpha is untouched, colors flip). Dark-mode designers often invert light screenshots rather than re-shooting them.

Common use cases

Developing film-scan negatives into positives, preparing scanned documents for OCR (inverting white-on-black text), creating inverted art assets, and producing light-on-dark variants of UI screenshots for dark-mode documentation.

Frequently asked questions

Where are my images processed?

Everything runs locally in your browser via the Canvas API. Your picture never leaves your machine — there is no upload step at all, so processing is as private as working in an offline editor.

What kind of image files work with this tool?

JPG, PNG or WEBP inputs are supported, up to 30 MB per file. For exotic formats, convert them first with one of the converter tools, then come back.

What are the size and batch limits?

You can queue 10 files per run, each up to 30 MB. Results download individually or bundled as a single ZIP.

Can I fine-tune the result before downloading?

Yes — settings include Inversion strength. Each run regenerates the preview, so you can compare options before downloading.
