About the Contrast Adjuster

Contrast stretches or compresses the tonal range around mid-gray. Photos from cheap lenses or hazy days come alive at 115–140%; drop below 100% for a faded, editorial look. Pairs beautifully with the Vintage filter.

How it works

The filter steepens (or flattens) the tonal curve: values above the midpoint stretch toward white, values below sink toward black. That's what makes images 'pop' — bigger separation between light and dark — while the slider lets you stop well before shadows lose their detail.

How to use it

Add up to 10 images, drag the contrast slider while watching the live preview, and process. Each result can be compared with its original; download individually or as a ZIP.

Supported formats & limitations

Accepts .jpg, .png and .webp up to 30MB each, 10 per run. Extreme contrast clips detail at both ends — for scanned documents and text, moderate settings keep letters legible; for photos, a small boost often reads as 'better camera'.

Common use cases

Waking up flat, hazy photos; adding punch to product shots; making presentation screenshots easier to read on projectors; and normalizing mixed lighting conditions across a batch of event photos.

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded to a server when I use Contrast Adjuster?

Everything runs locally in your browser via the Canvas API. Your picture never leaves your machine — there is no upload step at all, so processing is as private as working in an offline editor.

What kind of image files work with this tool?

JPG, PNG or WEBP inputs are supported, up to 30 MB per file. For exotic formats, convert them first with one of the converter tools, then come back.

What are the size and batch limits?

You can queue 10 files per run, each up to 30 MB. Results download individually or bundled as a single ZIP.

Can I fine-tune the result before downloading?

The controls cover Contrast. Nothing is baked in until you press the action button, and every run gives you a fresh preview to check.
