About the Remove Metadata

Every phone photo can carry GPS coordinates, device serials and timestamps. This tool decodes your image to raw pixels and re-encodes it fresh — all EXIF, GPS and vendor tags are gone, because the new file simply doesn't contain them. The report shows exactly what was removed.

How it works

The tool decodes your image and re-encodes it from raw pixels — metadata lives in file headers, and a fresh encode simply doesn't carry them. The result keeps every visible pixel while leaving behind camera serials, timestamps, editing software fingerprints and GPS coordinates.

How to use it

Drop up to 10 images, choose whether output stays in the original format or converts, set quality if converting, and process. Download the clean files — optionally verify with the Metadata Viewer first.

Supported formats & limitations

Accepts .jpg and .png up to 30MB each, 10 per batch. Re-encoding JPEGs at default quality is visually safe; PNG output stays lossless but larger. Some platforms strip metadata anyway — doing it yourself guarantees it.

Common use cases

Scrubbing photos before posting homes, cars or kids online; cleaning up documents and scans shared with third parties; preparing press or portfolio submissions; and any workflow where 'what else is in this file?' matters.

Frequently asked questions

Does removing metadata affect image quality?

JPEG re-encoding at 92% is visually identical. PNG output is lossless.

Is metadata really gone?

Yes — the output is a newly encoded image containing only pixels, with no metadata structures.

What's the difference between Remove Metadata and Remove GPS Data?

Remove Metadata strips every EXIF, GPS and vendor tag — the output is pure pixels. Remove GPS Data removes only the location tags and keeps the rest of the metadata (camera, settings, timestamps). Choose based on how much you want to keep.

Will removing metadata change how my photo looks?

No. Metadata removal re-encodes the same pixels. JPEG output uses a high quality setting you can adjust; PNG output is lossless. Colors and sharpness stay exactly as they were.
