About the Remove GPS Data

Location data is the most sensitive thing a photo carries — it reveals your home, your kids' school, your hotel. This tool checks for GPS tags first, then re-encodes the image so coordinates are provably absent, and tells you exactly what it found and removed.

How it works

The tool re-encodes your image from raw pixels, which drops the GPS IFD block along with all other metadata — a focused version of the full metadata stripper, same privacy guarantee: the photo is parsed and rebuilt inside your browser, never uploaded.

How to use it

Drop up to 10 images, choose format and quality settings, and process. Want proof it worked? Load the result into the Metadata Viewer — the GPS section will be empty.

Supported formats & limitations

Accepts .jpg and .png up to 30MB each, 10 per batch. Output keeps every visible pixel — only the hidden location record disappears. WebP sources should be converted to JPG or PNG first via the universal converter.

Common use cases

The pre-upload ritual for marketplace listings, dating profiles, rental ads, school events and travel photos — anywhere 'this is where I live' is information you didn't consent to sharing with every viewer.

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded to a server when I use Remove GPS Data?

Everything runs locally in your browser via the Canvas API. Your picture never leaves your machine — there is no upload step at all, so processing is as private as working in an offline editor.

Which input formats does Remove GPS Data accept?

Common formats are covered: JPG or PNG, each up to 30 MB. Paste from the clipboard, drag and drop, or use the select button.

What are the size and batch limits?

Up to 10 images per batch, 30 MB per file, and unlimited runs — no signup, no counters, and no watermark stamped on results.

Can I fine-tune the result before downloading?

The controls cover Keep original format, JPEG quality (if JPG). Nothing is baked in until you press the action button, and every run gives you a fresh preview to check.
