About the Crop to Square

Squares dominate social profiles and product grids. This one-click cropper takes the largest possible 1:1 region from your image — The crop is centered; choose an anchor to bias toward the top or bottom. Pick "upper third" for group photos where faces sit high.

How it works

The tool computes the largest square that fits inside your image, slices it out with no resampling (pixels stay original), and anchors the cut where you choose — center for symmetric shots, top for portraits where faces sit high, bottom for products on shelves. The crop itself is geometric; the saved file is then re-encoded at your chosen quality, and PNG output keeps it mathematically lossless.

How to use it

Add up to 10 images, pick an anchor point, optionally set output format and quality, and process. Each result previews as a finished square; download files individually or as a ZIP.

Supported formats & limitations

Accepts .jpg, .png and .webp up to 30MB each, 10 per batch. Very wide panoramas lose a lot of content in a 1:1 cut — for those, the interactive cropper lets you choose the window manually.

Common use cases

Instagram grid posts, avatar uploads, marketplace product squares and app profile photos all demand 1:1. Batch mode squares an entire product catalog in one pass, which is exactly where the one-click design pays off.

Frequently asked questions

Where are my images processed?

Everything runs locally in your browser via the Canvas API. Your picture never leaves your machine — there is no upload step at all, so processing is as private as working in an offline editor.

What kind of image files work with this tool?

JPG, PNG or WEBP inputs are supported, up to 30 MB per file. For exotic formats, convert them first with one of the converter tools, then come back.

What are the size and batch limits?

You can queue 10 files per run, each up to 30 MB. Results download individually or bundled as a single ZIP.

Can I fine-tune the result before downloading?

Yes — settings include Vertical anchor, Output format, Quality. Each run regenerates the preview, so you can compare options before downloading.
