About the Crop to Circle

Round avatars are everywhere — Slack, GitHub, Discord, LinkedIn. This tool cuts the largest inscribed circle from your image and outputs a PNG with true transparency outside the ring, ready to drop into any design or profile slot.

How it works

The tool inscribes the largest possible circle in your image, masks everything outside it to transparency, and exports a PNG whose corners are genuinely see-through — not white squares pretending. An anchor control decides whether the circle favors the top, center or upper third of the source.

How to use it

Drop one image, choose which vertical region the circle should favor, and process. The preview sits on a checkerboard so you can confirm the transparency; download the PNG and it's ready for any round slot.

Supported formats & limitations

Accepts .jpg, .png and .webp up to 30MB; single-image runs; output is always PNG with alpha. If the destination (some legacy forums) can't handle transparency, flatten the result onto a background color with the Add Background Color tool.

Common use cases

Profile pictures for apps and communities, team pages, testimonial avatars, badge and sticker design, and round 'chat bubble' artwork. Designers also use it as a quick mask stand-in before fancier cut-outs.

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded to a server when I use Crop to Circle?

Everything runs locally in your browser via the Canvas API. Your picture never leaves your machine — there is no upload step at all, so processing is as private as working in an offline editor.

Can it open JPG, PNG and WebP files?

The common formats are covered — JPG, PNG or WEBP, each up to 30 MB. One photo is processed per run.

How many images can I process at once?

Files can be up to 30 MB each, one per run. There's no account, no daily quota and no watermark — process as many images as you need, one after another.

Can I fine-tune the result before downloading?

The controls cover Vertical anchor. Nothing is baked in until you press the action button, and every run gives you a fresh preview to check.
