About the Thumbnail Maker

Thumbnails make galleries fly. This tool center-crops to perfect squares (like YouTube and Instagram) or fits within the box, outputting tiny WebP/JPEG files optimized for grid views. Ten images become thumbnails in one click.

How it works

The maker renders each image onto a square canvas at your chosen size: cover mode center-crops to fill the square edge to edge, while contain fits the whole image and pads the rest. Downsampling happens in steps for sharp results, and the output format choice lets WebP shrink thumbnails further.

How to use it

Drop up to 10 images, pick a size from 64 to 640px, choose cover or contain, select WebP, JPEG or PNG output, then process. Every thumbnail previews in the results grid; download the set as a ZIP.

Supported formats & limitations

Accepts .jpg, .png and .webp up to 30MB each, 10 per batch. For gallery grids, pick one size and stick to it — mixing sizes breaks uniform rows. Contain mode with JPEG pads with a solid color rather than transparency.

Common use cases

Gallery previews, product listing grids, video libraries, documentation figure thumbs and chat previews — anywhere a grid of uniform tiles matters. WebP output makes page-load budgets happy even at 640px.

Frequently asked questions

Is my image uploaded to a server when I use Thumbnail Maker?

Everything runs locally in your browser via the Canvas API. Your picture never leaves your machine — there is no upload step at all, so processing is as private as working in an offline editor.

Which input formats does Thumbnail Maker accept?

Common formats are covered: JPG, PNG or WEBP, each up to 30 MB. Paste from the clipboard, drag and drop, or use the select button.

What are the size and batch limits?

Up to 10 images per batch, 30 MB per file, and unlimited runs — no signup, no counters, and no watermark stamped on results.

Can I fine-tune the result before downloading?

The controls cover Thumbnail size, Crop style, Output format. Nothing is baked in until you press the action button, and every run gives you a fresh preview to check.
