About the Base64 to Image

Paste any Base64 image string or data URI and this decoder rebuilds the binary file, sniffs its real format (PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF), renders a preview and hands you a download button. The fastest way to recover an image trapped in code.

How it works

The decoder strips any data-URI prefix, validates the Base64, decodes the bytes, and detects the actual image type from magic numbers — so it works whether the payload is PNG, JPEG, WebP, GIF or something exotic. The decoded blob is previewed in-browser, never uploaded.

How to use it

Paste your Base64 text or data URI into the textarea (or drop a .txt file), and the image appears immediately. Confirm what it is, then download it as a properly named image file.

Supported formats & limitations

Accepts any Base64 image payload pasted as text or a .txt file up to 30MB. Invalid or truncated Base64 is reported clearly rather than half-decoded. Output format matches whatever the bytes actually are.

Common use cases

Extracting images from JSON API responses, reversing an image-to-base64 encoding, debugging data URIs found in CSS, recovering images from log files and single-file HTML documents, and inspecting what an embedded string really contains.

Frequently asked questions

Where are my images processed?

Everything runs locally in your browser via the Canvas API. Your picture never leaves your machine — there is no upload step at all, so processing is as private as working in an offline editor.

What kind of image files work with this tool?

TXT or TEXT/PLAIN inputs are supported, up to 30 MB per file. For exotic formats, convert them first with one of the converter tools, then come back.

What are the size and batch limits?

This tool handles one image at a time (up to 30 MB). For batch work, use one of the multi-file tools instead — the per-image result is the same.

Can I fine-tune the result before downloading?

Yes — settings include Base64 string or data URI. Each run regenerates the preview, so you can compare options before downloading.
