About the JPG to BMP

Some legacy Windows programs, embedded systems and industrial controllers only accept BMP. This tool writes a proper 24-bit bottom-up BMP file from your JPG pixels — a custom encoder running entirely in your browser.

How it works

The decoder turns your JPEG into raw pixels and writes them out as a standard 24-bit BMP — no compression, no quality settings, no surprises. The output is as plain an image file as exists, which is exactly why certain old and industrial software insists on it.

How to use it

Drop one .jpg file and convert. The preview confirms the image, then download the .bmp — expect it to be much larger than the source, since BMP stores every pixel uncompressed.

Supported formats & limitations

Accepts .jpg/.jpeg up to 30MB; single file per run; output is .bmp (24-bit). BMP carries no transparency and no EXIF — metadata from the source does not transfer, which is sometimes itself the goal.

Common use cases

Feeding engraving machines, embroidery software, legacy CAD viewers, kiosk firmware and vintage applications that read only BMP. Also useful as a neutral intermediate when some other tool needs raw, uncompressed input.

Frequently asked questions

How private is JPG to BMP?

Everything runs locally in your browser via the Canvas API. Your picture never leaves your machine — there is no upload step at all, so processing is as private as working in an offline editor.

Can it open JPG, PNG and WebP files?

The common formats are covered — JPG, each up to 30 MB. One photo is processed per run.

How many images can I process at once?

Files can be up to 30 MB each, one per run. There's no account, no daily quota and no watermark — process as many images as you need, one after another.
