About the AVIF to PNG

Turn AVIF files into lossless PNGs — ideal when you need pixel-exact edits or transparency preservation. Uses the browser's built-in AVIF decoder; conversion never leaves your machine.

How it works

The tool decodes your AVIF through the browser's native codec and writes lossless PNG, preserving the alpha channel exactly — soft edges and semi-transparent overlays arrive intact. No quality settings exist because PNG recompression doesn't degrade pixels.

How to use it

Drop up to 10 .avif files, press Convert, and download the PNGs individually or zipped. The checkerboard preview confirms which areas are genuinely transparent.

Supported formats & limitations

Input: .avif up to 30MB per file, 10 per batch; output is .png. Needs a browser with AVIF decoding (current Chrome, Edge, Opera). Photographic AVIFs grow in size as PNG — that's lossless storage, not a defect.

Common use cases

For design workflows that received next-gen downloads: extracting assets from AVIF into editors that want PNG, preserving transparency for compositing, and feeding documentation or app pipelines that haven't adopted AVIF.

Frequently asked questions

How private is AVIF to PNG?

Everything runs locally in your browser via the Canvas API. Your picture never leaves your machine — there is no upload step at all, so processing is as private as working in an offline editor.

What kind of image files work with this tool?

AVIF inputs are supported, up to 30 MB per file. For exotic formats, convert them first with one of the converter tools, then come back.

What are the size and batch limits?

You can queue 10 files per run, each up to 30 MB. Results download individually or bundled as a single ZIP.
